Batik is an exclusive, ancient painting form. Batik paintings represent a very unique art form, involving various figures and patterns drawn on the pieces of fabrics. Batik is one of the ‘resist’ processes for making designs on fabric like tie n dye, shibori, and serti (fence) technique. Wax is used on the fabric to prevent dye from penetrating the cloth. Batik is especially unique because of the wax crackles. It can be done with many types of dye or fabric paints and waxes on cotton, silk, and other natural fabrics.
