Gond Art is one of the Indian Traditional Art forms done by Gonds who are among the largest tribes of Madhya Pradesh in Central India. The word Gond comes from Dravidian expression “Kond” meaning The Green Mountains. The Gonds paint their walls and floors with vibrant images of Flowers, Trees, Animals, Nature, and Gods. Traditionally it is made at festivals like Diwali, Karva Chauth, etc.

This mystical art form is created by putting together lines and dots. The imaginative use of lines imparts a sense of movement to the still images. The artists traditionally use natural colors derived from colored soil, charcoal, leaves, etc. Gond Art comes with the belief that a good image brings good luck.

Indian Traditional Arts are culturally very strong and inspire artists to create artifacts like treys, boxes, photo frames, etc. Which have become extremely popular globally. Lots of artists are emerging and doing this art on paper or canvas with acrylic colors and taking this art to international art galleries.
